Warehouse Assistant Paloga is Australia's only national transport, warehousing and logistics company dedicated to the floor covering industry. Our clients include manufacturers, importers, independent retailers and major retail chains throughout Australia. Paloga has dedicated warehouses across Australia, state of the art handling equipment, the latest information technology, a highly trained and customer focused staff. Paloga also owns and operates a national premium general freight distribution network trading under the Knagge Transport brand. The position of Warehouse Assistant reports directly to the Warehouse Manager and or the shift Floor Manager, the position requires the ability to work afternoon shift and the flexibility to work some overtime and some weekends. The succesful applicant will be able to supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in unloading of cargo from trucks, rail containers into storage locations. In addition the applicant will be required to move stored materials for dispatch, labelling and distribution. The position icludes the ability to; To work to and ensure that unloading and dispatch schedules are maintained as designated by management To operate specialised plant equipment designed to cut and wrap roll product as per company policy, procedures and training schedule Ensure that weight distribution guideliens for racking are adhered to and that freight is not damaged Move unloaded freight to assigned areas for additional transport transactions or storage Obey company safety policies and systems of work, procedures, signage and guidelines Inform management of any safety concerns related to plant and equipment Suggest changes to working conditions and use of equipment, systems of work, to increase efficiency of department and or organisation Analyse and suggest solutions to problems when they arise The successful applicant must have a current drivers license, forklift license and preferrably a first aid certificate and manual handling training. In addition the applicant should have a basic understanding of word processing and some knowledge of freight link transport modules relating to inventory control. Ideally the successful applicant will have completed year 10 and or have at least 2 years experience in similiar or related industries.
