Trainee - Transport

As part of Paloga Transports ongoing commitment to maintaining a highly trained work force they are looking to employ several apprentices and or trainees. Paloga believes that as part of its ongoing growth and market specific needs there exists a real need to train and develop their own personal.

The position of apprentice/trainee reports directly to the State Manager, the position requires the ability to work day shift and the flexibility to work some overtime and some weekends.

The traineeship/apprenticeship will be for a period of two years and a fulltime position within the company will be offrered after completion of the two year apprenticeship.

Trainees/Apprentices will be guaranteed two years fulltime work throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, provided they adhere to the company's safety and operational policies and procedures; applicable to all employees.

The traineship will be completed in two one year sections.

In the first year the succesful applicant will be trained by Paloga Transport to drive and obtain their forklift license over the first six months and over the next six months the successful applicant wil be trained by Paloga Transport to drive and obtain their mid rigid license.

Further training objectives will be decided upon after the completion of the first year these will be tailored to the career that the apprentice/traineship chooses to take with the company; areas include:

1) obtaining HR license;
2) obtaining Prime Mover license;
3) computer training, such as word, excell, database construction;
4) basic management training;
5) dangerous goods training;
6) warehouse & logistics training;
7) manual handling training.

Specific Duties will include:

Driving forklift to facilitate the loading of local delivery drivers as directed by management

Driving forklift to facilitate the loading of interstate trailers and containers as directed by management

Delivering product to retailers as instructed by management and completing associated paperwork.

Inspecting forklift for safety, maintenance and defects before use

Completing Vehicle Safety Report Book as instructed

Adhering to company policies and procedures

Obeying all safety regulations and guidelines

Ensure that the forklift/truck is cleaned weekly

Report any damage to product or trucks, trailers, containers, racking and premises to management immediatedly

Ensure company procedures are followed in the event of an accident

The position pays $15.00 per hour for a 38 hour week, for the first year and $16.00 per hour for a 38 hour week for the second year, overtime is paid in accordance with statuatory guidelines.

After completion of the two year traineeship the trainee will be paid in accordance to the company's renumeration program.
