The position of Heavy Rigid Driver reports directly to the Fleet Controller and or Operations Manager and or the State Manager, the position requires the ability to work day shift and the flexibility to work some overtime and some weekends.
The succesful applicant will be able to drive a truck over 8 tonnes to a variety of local destinations to enable the loading and unloading of cargo. In addition the applicant will be required to perform some manual handling duties, although most deliveries will be unloaded by forklift.
Specific duties include:
Driving truck and completing deliveries and pick ups as directed by management;
Inspecting truck for defects before and after trips;
Completing Vehicle Safety Report Book as instructed;
Adhering to company policies and procedures;
Obeying all safety regulations and guidelines;
Ensuring all paperwork associated with pick up and deliveries is completed as per management instruction;
Checking and dcocumenting freight on and off of truck as per company guidelines;
Maintain regular telephone contact with management;
Ensure loads are secured and maintained at all times;
Ensure that the truck is cleaned weekly and maintained in a neat and tidy manner at all times;
Report any damage to product or vehicle, manufacturers and or retailers premises to management immediatedly;
Ensure company procedures are followed in the event of an accident.
The succesful candidate will have at least 6 months experience doing similiar and or like duties. It would be beneficial if the applicant had a forklift license, first aid certificate, manual handling training and dangerous goods training however these are not essential.
The position pays $16.50 per hour for a 38 hour week, overtime is paid in accordance with statuatory guidelines.
