Company Accountant Paloga is Australia's only national transport, warehousing and logistics company dedicated to the floor covering industry. Our clients include manufacturers, importers, independent retailers and major retail chains throughout Australia. Paloga has dedicated warehouses across Australia, state of the art handling equipment, the latest information technology, a highly trained and customer focused staff. Paloga also owns and operates a national premium general freight distribution network trading under the Knagge Transport brand. The position of Company Accountant reports directly to the General Manager and or the Board of Directors, the position requires the flexibility to work some overtime and some weekends. The succesful applicant will be able to supervise and coordinate the activities of both the Accounts Payable and Receivable portfolios. In addition the applicant will be able to apply the principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties; Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and doccumenting financial transactions Distribute expenses, encumbrances, receipts and receivables according to schedules Perform statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates and significant changes, and write narrative reports to explain findings Analyse financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other reports as required To interpret reports and findings and the company's financial position in terms that relate to other managers To ensure that all depreciation schedules are maintained and updated To conduct and assist in audits of contracts, orders, receipts, invoices to substantaite individual transactions To ensure that the proper handling of all financial transactions are observed within the designated guidelines Monitor the compliance of the company and subordinates with generally accepted accounting principles and supporting company policies and procedures Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports Install, modify, critique, document and coordinate the implementation of accounting systems and accounting control practices Provide the general manager and the board of directors with information regarding the reserves, cash flow, assets and expenditures when requested Conduct studies and submit suggestions about improvements that could be made to the company's accounting practices, policies and procedures Collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state and local reports and tax returns The candidate will occaisionaly be required to train employees and will be involved in appraisal, rewarding and disciplinary proceedings of subordinate staff. The successful applicant must have a current drivers license and preferrably a current first aid certificate. In addition the applicant should have an understanding of accounting software, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and preferrably some knowledge of freight link transport modules relating to inventory control. Ideally the successful applicant will have completed secondary education and or have at least 5 years experience in similiar or related industries.
